Classes for our Senior Citizens

The YMCA is proud to provide classes especially designed for the older generation. They are not only there to help those members to stay fit and healthy, but they also provide an opportunity to socialise and to make new friends (just like is the case for all who join our classes).

Classes we currently provide which are especially tailored to that age group are:
'Senior Aerobics' and 'Sit and be Fit'.




Aerobics

Low impact exercise to music

These classes are currently held at the following times:

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays - 9:00am to 10:00am

Discounted cost per session: $3.00




Steady As You Go

Falls Prevention Programme

Steady As You Go includes an educational presentation and strength and balance exercise classes, for people 65+. The exercises used in our programme increases leg strength, awareness and balance. Classes are held at the YMCA Recreation Centre: 77 Tay St, Invercargill. We can also come to your Rest home or Community Group. Classes run for 45 minutes once a week, for a minimum of 10 weeks. Instructors are trained by the Physiotherapy School at the University of Otago.

Sit and Be Fit

Tuesdays - 9:00am - 10:00am
