What makes our Health and Fitness centre so special?

Our Health and Fitness centre is Invercargill's premier workout facility. We house great exercise equipment and our professionals are dedicated and ready to give the most professional up to date advice. This unisex centre caters for the health needs from students to seniors. Our health and fitness centre is renowned for the personal service provided by qualified staff. YMCA provides affordable programmes and services designed to motivate, encourage and help you achieve your fitness goals.

Membership benefits

Fitness Club members receive ongoing individual assessments and programme demonstrations by experienced staff. Members can enjoy the use of our hot, dry sauna, and also participation in our Aerobics classes at no additional cost.

We offer a vast variety of programmes and activities

YMCA members and casual users can participate in group exercise classes, Y's walking groups, aquarobics, active older adult classes, belly dancing, pilates, spin and tai chi, just to name a few.

The classes and descriptions



Class Descriptions
Class Title Description
Circuit Beginners to advanced. A 45 minutes class that varies from week to week - each class may include a selection of upper, core and lower body light resistance training exercises, mixed with mild-intense cardio breaks, using a variety of different equipment.
Kiwi Seniors A low impact 'exercise to music class' designed specifically for the senior participant.
Pump Beginners to advanced. A weights class to music. Guided by the instructor, combining a selection of weights and high repetitions for the ultimate toning workout.
Sit and Be Fit Remain seated while exercising. For participants who find standing exercises unsuitable but still want to keep mobile and active. Both upper and lower body exercises are included.
Step Beginners to advanced. You can choose your own step height and workout intensity (with or without handweights) for the complete fat burning cardio workout.
Cardio Pump A combination class, often focused on increasing the heartrate and increasing motivation through a variety of step, pump and kickout.

We have a wide range of membership types and cater for all types of populations. We have options for cash or direct debit, ranging from $8 - $15 per week.

Introducing YMCA Walking Group

Walk for fitness and enjoy the company of friends in picturesque surroundings. This 'women only' walking group runs Tuesday mornings.
